The Los Angeles Dodgers entered Friday's game two games above .500 and in second place in the National League West.  Armed with one of the better pitching staffs in the league, the Dodgers could be getting addition help soon, as Hyun-jin Ryu could be ready to return on Wednesday.

I reported on May 15 that Ryu threw 45 pitches in a bullpen session and showed no signs of shoulder trouble that put him on the disabled list after his start on April 27.  Manager Don Mattingly didn't reveal what the next step would be, but appeared that Ryu may pitch in a simulated game before returning. That may have changed with the latest update.

Ken Gurnick, who covers the Dodgers for, tweeted the following updateon Ryu's status.
Ryu will be rejoining a staff that includes Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, Dan Haren, Josh Beckett and Paul Maholm. Ryu was 14-8 with a 3.00 ERA in 30 starts.  He allowed 182 hits and struck out 154 in 192 innings. In seven starts this season, Ryu is 3-2 with a 3.00 ERA.
