By on 5/28/2014 11:30:00 PM

The Cleveland Indians activated All-Star second baseman Jason Kipnis from the 15-day DL and sent infielder Justin Sellers to Triple-A Columbus, the team announced before Wednesday's game against the Chicago White Sox. Kipnis, who missed four weeks with a strained right oblique, batted cleanup and went 0 for 4 as the Tribe lost 3-2 to the Pale Hose.

Prior to his injury, Kipnis slashed  .234/.354/.394 (OPS+115) with three homers and 12 RBI in 27 games. Now in his age-27 season, Kipnis was the Indians' second-round draft pick in 2009, making his debut on July 22, 2011. In 2013 Kipnis was named to the AL All-Star team, posting a line of .284/.366/.452 (OPS+ 132, fWAR 4.5) as the Indians got as far as the Wild Card game. Kipnis is signed to a  6-year $52.5 million contract that takes him through 2019 (2020 team option).
