Nationals transfer Eury Perez to 60-day DL

By on 5/16/2014 03:30:00 PM

The Washington Nationals adjusted their 40- and 25-man rosters this afternoon. Outfielder Eury Perez (fractured toe) was transferred to the 60-day DL. First basemean Greg Dobbs, who was released earlier this week by the Miami Marlins, and was then picked up by the Nats, passed his physical and was added to the 25-man (major-league) roster. Catcher Sandy Leon was sent to Triple-A Syracuse.

Perez, 23, fractured his foot at the beginning of May on a foul ball. Known more for speed than offense, Perez made two brief appearances in the majors, mostly as a pinch runner and late inning defensive replacement. He slashed .228/.304/.283 in 24 games at Triple-A Syracuse before he was injured. The Nats signed Perez out of the Dominican Republic in 3007 and he made his major league debut September 1, 2012. He is pre-arb and under team control through 2019.
