Phillies' JImmy Rollins (groin) out again

By on 5/06/2014 08:30:00 PM

According to Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia, Jimmy Rollins is out of the Phillies’ starting lineup again on Tuesday night. Rollins ended up pinch hitting in the 9th and grounding out.

Rollins felt some discomfort in his right groin in the game on Sunday and did not get the start Monday night as Kerry Kauffman of Sports Injury Alert reported on May 5th.

Manager Ryne Sandberg told Salisbury, “He still has something there, he needs another day. It’s a day-to-day thing.” He was able to hit in batting practice, but at little effort Tuesday night and Monday night.

Freddy Galvis started again Tuesday night as he is batting 7th in the lineup against the Blue Jays.

Rollins, 35, this year has a slash of .271/.345/.421 with 3 home runs, 15 runs batted in, 12 walks, and 17 strikeouts in 28 games. He has also stolen 5 bases while being caught twice.

In 2013, Rollins hit for a line of .252/.318/.348 with just 6 home runs, 39 runs batted in, 59 walks, 93 strikeouts in 160 games. He also stole 22 bases and was caught 6 times.

Rollins could return Wednesday in Toronto, but Salisbury notes that the artificial turf is tough on players and he could sit out those two games as well.

We will update you as more information comes out.
