Thunder's Serge Ibaka is progressing rapidly

By on 5/25/2014 02:00:00 PM

The Oklahoma City Thunder lost Game 2 of the Western Conference Finas against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday by the score of 112-77. The blowout loss put the Thunder in a two game to none hole in the series. In a nearly must-win situation in Game 3 tonight, the Thunder could see the return of Serge Ibaka, who is progressing rapidly in his rehab from a calf injury.

Adrian Wojnarowski, NBA insider for Yahoo! Sports, tweeted the following, confirming Ibaka's status.
Ibaka is walking and doing some light basketball drills. He ruled himself out of the series on May 21, so there are still questions surrounding the entire situation. The Thunder were quiet about Ibaka's status at the time of the injury, other than that Ibaka had a Grade 2 calf strain. The Thunder are getting beat badly inside and need his presence, if at all possible.

Ibaka, in his fifth NBA season, averaged 15.1 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.7 blocked shots per game in the regular season. In 13 post season games, Ibaka is averaging 12.2 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game.
