Our own Darius Austin reported on June 23 that Blanks was forced to leave the game after trying to score from third base on a ground ball. He was thrown out and limped back to the dugout, with what was later revealed as a calf strain.
Jane Lee, who covers the A's for MLB.com, tweeted the following update on the status of Blanks.
Melvin tells @957thegame that Blanks (calf strain) will go on the DL. That's your roster move for Reddick.Blanks, in his sixth Major League season, is batting .333 with two home runs and seven RBI with the A's this season, and .309 overall with the Padres and A's. In 260 career games, Blanks has a batting average of .234 with 30 home runs and 105 RBI.
