Blue Jays Injury Update: Brett Lawrie, Jose Bautista

By on 6/22/2014 03:33:00 PM

Toronto Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista and second baseman Brett Lawrie both left Sunday afternoon's game with the Cincinnati Reds with injuries.'s Gregor Chisholm reported each incident right after it happened, and Sportsnet's Barry Davis tweeted updates soon afterward.

Bautista appeared to hurt his leg while running out a bunt in the top of the third. The :45 mark of the video clip shows him pull up and grimace after crossing the base safely. He reached second later in the inning and then left the game for pinch hitter Jose Reyes, who stayed in at shortstop. Bautista will have an MRI as Davis noted.

Meanwhile, Lawrie took a 92-mph fastball from Johnny Cueto on the right hand in the top of the second. He came out in the bottom half in favor of Steve Tolleson, who went to right field. Munenori Kawasaki moved from shortstop to second base.

X-rays on Lawrie's hand showed a fractured finger, and he will go on the disabled list. Chisholm says that this is the third time in less than a week that Lawrie took a pitch to the hand.
