Blue Jays Injury Update: R.A. Dickey leaves with groin tightness

By on 6/14/2014 08:45:00 PM

The Toronto Blue Jays lost to the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday by the score of 3-2. The Blue Jays got two hits a piece from Jose Reyes, Edwin Encarnacion and Brett Lawrie, in a losing effort. The loss dropped the Blue Jays to 40-30, but still hold a three game lead over the New York Yankees in the American League East. Blue Jays starter R.A. Dickey allowed two earned runs and four hits in 6 2/3 innings before he left the game with tightness in the groin.

As reported by John Lott of the National Post, Dickey described the injury as "real mild" and appeared optimistic that he wouldn't miss his next start.  The Blue Jays are third in the league in runs scored, but just 19th in the league in ERA, so any missed time by Dickey would be a blow to an already shaky pitching staff.

Dickey, in his 12th Major League season, has pitched for the Rangers, Mariners, Twins, Mets and Blue Jays. In 15 games this season, Dickey has a record of 6-4 with an ERA of 4.05.  His best season was in 2012 when he won the National League Cy Young Award, compiling a record of 20-6 with an ERA of 2.73. Dickey has a career record of 81-73 with an ERA of 4.03.
