As reported by R.J. White of CBSSports.com, Santos began his rehab assignment with Double-A New Hampshire on Tuesday. Although his results were not stellar, it was a good sign that he was back out on the mound in game action. Santos allowed three earned runs, three hits, two walks and a strikeout, in one innings. Santos could return early this weekend if all goes well in the rehab assignment this week.
Santos, in his fifth Major League season, is 0-2 with five saves and a 9.00 ERA this season. He's allowed 13 hits and 11 walks in 12 innings, while striking out 20. In 168 career games, Santos is 7-11 with 39 saves and a 3.65 ERA.
