Our own Rose Ingberman reported on June 17 that Carpenter placed on the DL with a strained right biceps. Carpenter was used hard prior to the injury, pitching five times in six days. Both manager Fredi Gonzalez and Carpenter felt that he'd be ready to go when eligible to come off the disabled list.
Carpenter has since begun a rehab assignment and David O'Brien, who covers the Braves for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, tweeted the following on Carpenter's outing.
Carpenter starts his injury rehab tonight in Gwinnett, 1 IP, then pitches again Monday. All goes well could come off DL WednesdayCarpenter, in his fourth Major League season, is 4-1 with a 4.23 ERA this season. In 27 2/3 innings, he's allowed 40 hits and eight walks, while striking out 35. In 157 career games with the Astros, Blue Jays and Braves, Carpenter is 9-7 with a 3.76 ERA.
