Browns Injury Update: Nate Burleson says arm is 'not broken'

By on 6/05/2014 12:22:00 PM

Nate Burleson suffered a broken left arm last season in a one-car accident, as he attempted to prevent pizzas from sliding off the passenger seat of his vehicle. All jokes and lessons about paying attention while driving aside, he wound up returning for the final few games of the season with the Detroit Lions and landed with the Cleveland Browns as a free agent this offseason.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported early in May that Burleson fractured his left arm again in minicamp and would need minor surgery. But Burleson denied that he had a broken arm earlier this week, saying the injury was "reported at lot worse than it is."

Regardless of the exact severity of his injury, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reported Burleson will have the cast removed from his surgically-repaired arm and is expected to be ready for training camp. The Browns need Burleson to be healthy and ready to contribute with Josh Gordon facing a season-long suspension and few other proven options at the position. With five 50-plus catch seasons during his career, including three in a row from 2009-2011, Burleson should be a prominent target for whoever winds up under center for Cleveland this season.
