Giants Injury Update: Angel Pagan scratched Sunday with sore back

By on 6/16/2014 10:30:00 AM

Angel Pagan was not in the lineup Sunday against the Rockies due to lower back tightness, according to Andrew Baggarly of CSN Bay Area. Gregor Blanco replaced Pagan in the lineup and went one for six.

Pagan has missed time this season due to hamstring, shoulder, knee, and now back issues. He has still played 63 games while having a line of .307/.356/.411 with 3 home runs, 19 RBI, 19 walks, 29 strikeouts, 11 stolen bases, and a .767 OPS.

In 2013, Pagan had a slash of .282/.334/.414/.749 with 5 home runs, 30 RBI, 44 runs, 36 strikeouts, and 23 walks in 71 games. He tore his hamstring while hustling around the bases on a walk-off inside-the-park home run in June.

The Giants lost their third consecutive game after leading the game after 7 innings. They sit at 43-27 and 6.5 games in front of the Dodgers.

San Francisco has an off day Monday while they travel to Chicago to face the White Sox in a quick two game series before they head to Arizona after another off day. Pagan will have two off days next week to help his body recover.
