Nuggets Injury Update: Ty Lawson still not running

By on 6/04/2014 08:30:00 PM

The Denver Nuggets had a very disappointing 2013-2014 season, winning just 36 games after a 57-win season in 2012-2013. A major concern that the Nuggets need to address this off season is improving at defense that was 28th in the league in points allowed. They also need to come back healthy following a season in which only four players appeared in over 70 games. There is concern about guard Ty Lawson, who is still not running following an ankle injury over a month ago.

As reported by Christopher Dempsey of The Denver Post, Lawson's injured ankle which cost him the last six games of the season is worse than he had anticipated.  Neither an X-ray nor an MRI showed any structural damage, yet his ankle is still swollen.
"I still can't run. They said it's no surgery, just another three or four weeks just staying off of it, not really doing too much and it should be fine."
Lawson expects to be start his off season conditioning next month and attack it differently than in the past.
"Normally, I'm not going to say I take it easy, but this summer I'm going to go hard at it and see what happens this next season. I'm going to be in the gym 24/7 this summer. I want to come into training camp in better condition, better shape."
Lawson was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2009 out of North Carolina.  In 62 games this season, Lawson is averaging a career high 17.6 points and 8.8 assists per game. In 341 career game, all with the Nuggets, Lawson is averaging 14 points and 5.9 assists per game.
