As reported by Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com, Nieves was one of five Phillies to get three hits in Wednesday's win, but he came up lame as he ran out a double in the ninth inning. Nieves said he felt a "little pop" in his right quad. Nieves left the game and Ruiz caught the bottom of the ninth.
There is no word as to whether or not Nieves will land on the disabled list, but Nieves feels he'll be fine.
“I hope I don’t need to go on the DL. I don’t think I will. I’m a quick healer and Chooch will be in there the next few days anyway. I should be good in a couple of days.”Should Nieves have to go on the disabled list, expect Cameron Rupp to be called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Nieves is batting .259 with a home run and four RBI this season. He's a career .241 hitter with nine home runs and 107 RBI.
