Rays Injury Update: Brandon Guyer rehab results

By on 6/16/2014 06:30:00 AM

The Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Houston Astros on Sunday by the score of 4-3. The win improved the Rays to 27-43 on the season. Even with the win, the Rays are thirteen and a half games behind the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East. The Rays are near the bottom of the league in both hitting an pitching and look to improve their play over the next few weeks heading into the All-Star break. On the injury front, Brandon Guyer is improving and played in a rehab game on Sunday.

I reported on June 10 that Guyer, who was placed on the disabled list with a hairline fracture in his left thumb, had his cast removed on Jun 9 and X-rays showed that the fracture is completely healed. He played catch and took some swings and was hoping to return to the Rays by the middle of the month.

Guyer played in a rehab game on Sunday and Matt Staton, writer of Mind Over Matt-er blog, tweeted the following results on that game.
Guyer is batting .262 with a home run and six RBI in 61 at bats this season. In 109 career at bats, Guyer had a batting average of .229 with four home runs and ten RBI.
