By on 6/25/2014 10:15:00 AM

The Tampa Bay Rays lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday by the score of 6-5. The loss dropped the Rays to 31-48, thirteen games behind the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East. Logan Forsythe had three hits and four other players had two hits for the Rays in the losing effort. One of those players was catcher Jose Molina, who was starting for Ryan Hanigan, who has been plagued with injuries this season.

Marc Topkin, who covers the Rays for the Tampa Bay Times, confirmed Hanigan's status prior to the game.
Hanigan was out from May 27 through June 10 with a right hamstring injury and the Rays struggled behind the plate without him in the lineup. There is no word yet as to the severity of the injury, but it's the second game of the last three that he's been out of the lineup.

Hanigan is in his eighth Major League season and first with the Rays. He's batting .236 with four home runs and 26 RBI. Hanigan has a career batting average of .260 with 24 home runs and 164 RBI in 527 games.
