Royals Injury Update: Alcides Escobar exits after HBP

By on 6/23/2014 10:30:00 AM

The Kansas City Royals lost to the Seattle Mariners on Sunday by the score of 2-1. The loss dropped the Royals to two and a half games behind the Detroit Tigers in the American League Central. Salvador Perez had two hits in the losing effort. There was a bit of concern as shortstop Alcides Escobar left the game after being hit by pitch. He was 0-for-1 with a strikeout and was replaced by Pedro Ciriaco.

According to the official Twitter account of the Kansas City Royals,
Should Escobar miss any time, expect Ciriaco to start in his place.  Escobar, in his seventh Major League season,  is batting .287 with two home runs, 23 RBI and 18 stolen bases this season.  He's a career .261 hitter with 20 home runs, 225 RBI and 115 stolen bases.
