Texans Injury Update: Jadeveon Clowney undergoes surgery

By on 6/14/2014 10:00:00 AM

Coming into the 2014 NFL Draft, Jadeveon Clowney was one of the most hyped up prospects in this very deep draft class. Clowney's mix of athleticism and explosiveness was a sight for sore eyes to many scouts throughout the NFL. When draft day came the Houston Texans jumped on the opportunity in drafting him number one.

A little over a month has passed and Clowney has put many smiles on the Texans' faces. He has participated in the team's voluntary offseason program, previously missing only practices that NFL rules didn't allow him to attend when he was invited to the NFLPA's rookie premiere. However, smiles may turn to frowns as Clowney had sports hernia surgery in Philadelphia on Thursday, according to Houston Texans head coach Bill O'brien.

Clowney flew out to Philadelphia to deal with a groin issue that has recently started to
bother him. This would lead to Clowney going through sports hernia surgery. O'brien stated that the injury has just recently come up and it hasn't been a lingering issue:
We just looked at it as, let's take care of it now, and he'll be ready for training camp, and we're looking forward to seeing him in training camp.
Clowney reportedly had an irritating groin injury during his superb pro day appearance back in April.
