Twins Injury Update: Sam Fuld set for Friday activation

By on 6/13/2014 12:45:00 PM

Sam Fuld should rejoin the Minnesota Twins on Friday when they face the Detroit Tigers, according to Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer-Press:

Fuld has been dealing with concussion symptoms for around a month now, initially landing on the 7-day concussion DL after colliding with the outfield wall, subsequently being moved to the 15-day DL two weeks later. It took around three weeks for Fuld to feel like the symptoms had subsided and as a result, he did not go on a rehab assignment until last weekend.

The 32-year-old has played for the Cubs, Rays Athletics and Twins during his 7 seasons in the majors, although his stint with the A's from earlier this season lasted just 33 plate appearances. With Aaron Hicks and rookie Danny Santana (normally a shortstop) manning center field, Fuld figures to be a backup at the position, and general late-inning defensive replacement, as he is known primarily for his prowess with the glove. Hicks has been dealing with shoulder soreness and has been forced to sit out of several games, so Fuld's return comes at a welcome time for the Twins.
