Twins Injury Update: Trevor Plouffe could skip rehab assignment

By on 6/23/2014 06:00:00 AM

The Minnesota Twins defeated the Chicago White Sox on Sunday by the score of 6-5. The win improved the Twins to 36-38, tired for third in the American League Central. Kurt Suzuki had three hits for the Twins, while Joe Mauer and Sam Fuld had two hits apiece. There is some potentially good news on the injury front for the Twins, as third baseman Trevor Plouffe may return sooner than expected.

On Saturday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that Plouffe still feels discomfort when he swings a bat and won't begin baseball-related activities until the discomfort goes away. But it appears that Plouffe may have improved, as Mike Berardino, who covers the Twins at, tweeted the following update on Plouffe.
Plouffe, who last played on June 14 against the Detroit Tigers, is batting .241 with five home runs and 38 RBI this season. He had a career high 24 home runs in 2012 and batted .254 with 14 home runs and 52 RBI last season. Plouffe is a career .240 hitter with 53 home runs and 183 RBI.
