Yankees Injury Update: Brian Roberts out again Sunday

The New York Yankees lost to the Oakland A's on Sunday by the score of 10-5. The loss dropped by Yankees to 35-33 on the season, four and a half games behind the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East. The Yankees were without Brian Roberts for the second straight game with a knee bruise.

As reported by Igor Mello of, Roberts was replaced in the lineup with Yangervis Solarte, who went 0-for-3 with a run scored and a walk. Roberts will get a day off tomorrow before the Yankees begin a three-game series against the Blue Jays. There is no word whether or not Roberts will be ready for the start of that series.

Roberts, in his 14th Major League season, is in his first season with the Yankees. He's batting .238 with two home runs and 14 RBI in 193 at bats this season. Roberts' best overall season was in 2005 when he batted .314 with 18 home runs and 73 RBI. He's a career .277 hitter with 94 home runs and 535 RBI.
