Angels Injury Update: C.J. Wilson should return this week

By on 7/29/2014 09:30:00 AM

The red-hot Los Angeles Angels are about to regain one of their best pitchers as Alden Gonzalez, the team's beat writer from MLB.com, reported C.J. Wilson has completed his rehab and is ready to pitch in the rotation.

During his rehab start, Wilson threw 81 pitches and struck out seven in 5.1 innings pitched, allowing just two earned runs.

Wilson has been on the disabled list since July 10th with an ankle injury, and his return will make the tough Angels club even more imposing.  Although his overall numbers are not Wilson-like this season, with a 4.33 ERA, he pitched well before dealing with the injury.

It is likely that Wilson will return this weekend to pitch against the Tampa Bay Rays.  With the new second Wild Card, it has become vitally important to win a division in baseball.  Wilson's return gives hope for the Angels to catch the A's, (who they currently trail by only 1.5 games) and take hold of the American League West.
