By on 7/20/2014 10:45:00 AM

The Los Angeles Angels lost to the Seattle Mariners in 12 inning last night by the score of 3-2. The loss dropped the Angels to 58-38, a game and a half behind the Oakland A's in the American League West. The Angels were without shortstop Erick Aybar, who sat out with a groin injury. John McDonald started for Aybar and went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts and a walk.

As reported by Matthew DeFranks of, Aybar left Friday's game with a sore right groin after a single in the ninth inning. Abyar sat out Saturday's game and manager Mike Scoscia said Aybar could be available to bunt as a pinch hitter, but Aybar did not appear in the game.  Aybar is currently considered day-to-day.

Aybar, in his ninth Major League season, is batting .283 with six home runs and 50 RBI, in 93 games.  He won the God Glove Aawrd at shortstop and was an All-Star this season. Aybar has a career batting average of .278 with 44 home runs and 355 RBI.
