I reported on June 30 that Salas, who has been out since June 15 with right shoulder irritation, threw 25 pitches consisting of fast balls and breaking balls. He didn't report soreness after the session and his next step would be to face live batters.
An update reported by Alden Gonzalez and Matthew DeFranks of MLB.com, is that Salas threw a bullpen session on Tuesday and was expected to be activated yesterday. But now manage Mike Scosica said Salas wasn't as sharp as he needs to be and the Angels are contemplating a brief rehab assignment for Salas.
Salas is in his 5th Major League season and first with the Angels. He is 4-0 with a 2.96 ERA in 28 games this season. In 215 career games, Salas 10-13 with 24 saves and a 3.36 ERA.
