Angels Injury Update; Grant Green X-ray is clean

By on 7/25/2014 06:30:00 AM

The Los Angeles Angels entered Thursday night's game against the Detroit Tigers leading the Major Leagues in runs scored. Their offensive production is a large reason the Angels are 60-40, only two and a half games behind the Oakland A's in the American League West. On the injury front, backup outfielder Grant Green got some positive news yesterday on his lower back injury which placed him in the disabled list.

Our own Darius Austin reported yesterday that Green was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain.
Alden Gonzalez, who covers the Angels for, tweeted the following update on Green.
With the Angels loaded in the outfield with Mike Trout, Josh Hamilton and Kole Calhoun, they do not have to rush Green back, should he recover slower than expected. But all initial indications say that Green should be ready to come off the disabled list when eligible.

Green, in his second Major League season, is batting .313 with a home run and nine RBI in 80 at bats. Last season, Green hit a combined .250 with a home run and 17 RBI with the A's and the Angels.  He's a career .273 hitter with two home runs and 26 RBI in 220 at bats.
