Astros Injury Update: Anthony Bass activated from DL

By on 7/02/2014 04:00:00 PM

Houston Astros reliever Anthony Bass was activated from the disabled list prior to tonight's contest against the Seattle Mariners. MLB.com's Mike Vernon tweeted the news on Wednesday morning:

Bass hit the DL on May 14th with an intercostal strain and it took five weeks before he was ready to start a rehab assignment. Bass pitched four innings on the assignment at Single-A Quad Cities and threw four scoreless innings, giving up just two hits and no walks. Bass came on to pitch in the sixth inning of Wednesday's game and was able to get a strikeout and a groundout either side of a Dustin Ackley single to prevent any more runs scoring after Brad Peacock had given up four in the inning.

As Vernon notes, Kevin Chapman heads the other way to Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 26-year-old has unfortunately had a terrible time in his second big league season, walking nine batters in 5 2/3 innings while also giving up eight hits, including two home runs, resulting in an 11.12 ERA and 3.00 WHIP.
