Fowler was placed on the 15-day disabled list on June 27 with an intercostal muscle strain in his right side. The team hoped he would be fully recovered by the end of the All-Star break, although manager Bo Porter’s comments suggest that Fowler isn’t too far away.

After being traded from the Colorado Rockies in December, Fowler has put together a solid season in Houston. He has posted a .270/.377/.396 line in 76 games so far this year.

The Astros had been using Alex Presley as a replacement in center before he went on the DL on July 8 with an oblique injury. George Springer and Enrique Hernandez have received some playing time in center since.
