Astros Injury Update: Dexter Fowler expected to return when eligible

By on 7/03/2014 09:45:00 AM

The Houston Astros fell to 36-50 following a 5-2 defeat to the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday. An offense which is 26th in runs scored, continue to struggle, managing just three hits off Mariners' pitching and struck out ten times. Marwin Gonzalez and Kike Hernandez homered for the Astros. On the injury front, Dexter Fowler is improving and is expected to be ready to come off the disabled list when eligible. His return could provide a spark to a sluggish offense.

Our own Evan Petzold reported on July 1 that Fowler was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right intercostal strain.

An update on Fowler, as reported by Evan Drellich of Ultimate Astros, Fowler will not travel with the team to Anaheim and is expected to meet the team in Arlington on Monday for the start of a three-game series against the Texas Rangers. Fowler is eligible to come off the disabled list on July 12 and is expected to return, just two games before the All-Star break.

Fowler, in his seventh Major League season, is batting .270 with six home runs and 24 RBI this season. He's a career .270 hitter with 46 home runs and 234 RBI.
