Athletics Injury Updates: Yoenis Cespedes, Brandon Moss, Alberto Callaspo

The Oakland Athletics won Wednesday nights game 9-7 against the Houston Astros thanks to Yoenis Cespedes, who hit two home runs, however; he left the game due to a sprained right thumb when he had an awkward fall at the plate in the fifth inning. Brandon Moss spun while tagging speedy Jose Altuve in the eighth and he seemed to be in pain but he did not come out reported by Susan Slusser from The Drumbeat. Infielder Alberto Callaspo could come back on Sunday according to Carl Steward.

Yoenis Cespedes
The two-time Home Run Derby champion left the game in the fifth inning after an awkward fall. It was made known that the issue is a sprained thumb. The X-Rays came back negative and manger Bob Melvin said that the team would know more about Cespedes at the park on Thursday. Cespedes hit two home runs off Houston starter Brad Peacock, who has been solid until he met up with the Athletics on Wednesday.

Brandon Moss
Moss spun while tagging Jose Altuve, he looked to be in pain but did not come out of the game. After the game he said he lost feeling in his hand for a moment and that he was fine.

Alberto Callaspo
On July 12, the Athletics moved Callaspo onto the 15-day disabled list with a hamstring strain. Callaspo origionally needed only seven days to recover. On Wednesday, it was announced that he should be able to return as soon as Sunday. Callaspo is batting .234 in 282 at-bats.
