Avalanche Injury Update: Cory Sarich has cycling accident, will need full recovery

According to James O'Brien of NBC Sports, Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cory Sarich will remain hospitalized following several injuries sustained an accident on Monday. Sarich was involved in a cycling accident, in which he was stuck by a vehicle. It appears as though he has not suffered from any injuries which could be life-threatening.

Sarich, 35, suffered from multiple broken vertebrae and severe road rash from the incident. The accident occurred in Invermere, B.C., however, due to Sarich's conditions, he was airlifted to a hospital in Calgary, where he is recovering. At this point, it is unknown whether Sarich will be able to return this season or if he will be able to return at all, although he is expected to make a full recovery.

During his season with Colorado, Sarich had one goal and nine assists in 54 games, and an overall plus-7 rating.
