Bengals Injury Update: Geno Atkins, Marvin Jones could miss some practice time

By on 7/22/2014 04:00:00 PM

The Cincinnati Bengals placed a whopping 12 players, including defensive starters Geno Atkins and Leon Hall, on the physically unable to perform and non-football injury lists, ProFootballTalk reports.

Nine of the players were placed on the PUP list, meaning they were unable to pass a physical due to an injury suffered while playing football. Hall, for instance, is still recovering from his torn achilles, but the team believes he will be ready to practice Thursday.

Atkins is another defensive player that was placed on the list. He's still recovering from the torn ACL suffered against the Dolphins on Halloween. Atkins will likely be held out of practice longer than Hall.

Other Bengals players placed on the PUP include offensive lineman Clint Boling, who is recovering from a torn ACL, punter Kevin Huber, who broke his jaw on a hit in the Bengals' loss to the Steelers in December, and defensive tackle Devon Still, who was placed on IR in late December with a back injury.

This afternoon, the Bengals announced via Twitter that guard Mike Pollak will be joining Boling on the PUP list. Pollak suffered a knee injury during training this offseason and has yet to participate this offseason.

Three players were placed on the non-football injury list. Corner Onterio McCalebb (knee) and rookie quarterback A.J. McCarron (shoulder) were joined on the list by wideout Marvin Jones (ankle). The non-football injury list is similar to the PUP list, the only difference being the injury occurred away from team facilities.

Jones reportedly tweaked his ankle in private workouts with Bengals' quarterback Andy Dalton. Jones is expected to practice with the team by the end of the week.
