Blue Jays Injury Update: Nolan Reimold activated

By on 7/28/2014 12:30:00 PM

The Toronto Blue Jays have activated outfielder Nolan Reimold from the 15-day disabled list and will use him as a DH against left-handed pitching for the next few days says Barry Davis of SportsNet. To make room on the roster, the Blue Jays designated pitcher Esmil Rogers for assignment.

MLB Roster Moves confirmed the news about Rogers.

Reimold played in just four games from July 7-11 before landing on the disabled list with a strained left calf. He was 4 for 12 with 3 RBI at the plate.

Davis also reported that Reimold will need a little more time to recover before playing left field. At this point, the Blue Jays plan to use him as a platoon DH against southpaws and as a pinch hitter.
Reimold is one of five key Blue Jays who have missed extended time throughout this month. Edwin Encarnacion, Adam Lind, Brett Lawrie, and Cole Gillespie have all missed much of July. Encarnacion, Lawrie, and Lind are all expected back by early August if not sooner.

The Blue Jays enter play on July 28 in second place in the A.L. East, three games behind the Baltimore Orioles. They also hold a one-game lead over the Yankees for the second A.L. Wild Card position.
