Braves Injury Update: Jason Heyward exits with back soreness

Jason Heyward left Monday’s afternoon game with what the team is callng lower back soreness, according to David O'Brien of Ryan Doumit replaced Heyward in right field and five-hole in the lineup. Heyward went hitless in one at bat as he grounded out to Yonder Alonso in the second inning.

This season, Heyward has a line of .260/.350/.379 with 9 home runs, 42 RBI, 50 walks, 70 strikeouts, and a .728 in 103 games. He has a WAR of 5.1, which is among major league baseball’s best.

In 2013, Heyward hit for a slash of .254/.349/.427 with 14 home runs, 38 RBI, 48 walks, 73 strikeouts, and a .766 OPS in 104 games. He had a WAR of 3.6 as his defense is among the elite.

We will update you as more information comes out. Right now, he left under precautionary measures and could be back in the lineup in the coming days.
