Brewers Injury Update: Jeff Bianchi will be placed on the DL

By on 7/17/2014 08:00:00 PM

Milwaukee Brewers beat writer Adam McCalvy is reporting that utility infielder Jeff Bianchi is being placed on the 15-day disabled list with a sore right elbow.  Along with this news comes word that everyday shortstop Jean Segura has been activated from the bereavement list after the tragic loss of his young son and will be with the team in Washington on Friday.

Bianchi, a former second round pick of the Kansas City Royals, has struggled to get going this season with the Brewers. Playing primarily as a backup, Bianchi has struggled at the plate.  Playing in just 29 games he has batted just .171 with zero home runs and six runs batted in.

As the deadline nears and the Brewers in need of a consistent bat of the bench, Bianchi's days with the club may be numbered.  Already this season he has cleared waivers and been demoted to AAA Nashville.
