Brewers Injury Update: Scooter Gennett exits with tight quad

By on 7/23/2014 09:30:00 AM

The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday by the score of 4-3. Jonathan Lucroy went 2-for-4 with two home runs, one a walk-off home run off of Sam LeCure. The win, which was the second straight for the Brewers over the Reds, improved the Brewers to 56-45 on the season. There is a bit of concern on the injury front, as second baseman Scooter Gennett had to leave the game with tightness in his right quad.

As reported by the Associated Press through Yahoo! Sports, Gennett went 0-for-2 in the game before leaving due to a tight right quad.  He also left Saturday's game against the Nationals with the same injury. He may have tweaked the injury fielding a ground ball in the fourth inning and was replaced in the fifth.

Gennett is currently listed as day-to-day and manager Ron Roenicke has said that Gennett will not start tonight against the Reds. Rickie Weeks is expected to see the majority of the playing time while Gennett is out.

Gennett, in his second Major League season, is batting .305 with eight home runs and 34 RBI this season.  In 69 games as a rookie, Gennett hit .324 with six home runs and 21 RBI.
