Brewers Injury Update: Will Smith dealing with back spasms

By on 7/19/2014 11:15:00 AM

After last night's victory against against the Washington Nationals it appeared that the Milwaukee Brewers were shaking things up with the back end of the bullpen as Rob Wooten and Zach Duke were called on to pitch in the eighth inning instead of reliever, Will Smith.  But that is not the case, according to Brewers' beat writer, Adam McCalvy, Smith was unavailable due to back spasms.
Smith, who was acquired this winter for the Kansas City Royals has been a rock in the Brewers bullpen this season.  His power fastball and devastating slider has kept hitters at bay all year.

While he had a rough start to the month of July, his last two outings before the break were scoreless.  Entering the break Smith had an ERA of 3.09.  He has also terrorized hitters with the strikeout pitch, sitting down 55 batters in just 43.2 innings of work.  Surely he will be back in high pressure situations when healthy.
