Broncos Injury Update: Cody Latimer should be ready for the regular season

By on 7/17/2014 10:00:00 AM

Despite suffering a broken left foot during a pre-draft workout in January, wide receiver Cody Latimer was selected in the second round of May's draft (56th overall) by the Denver Broncos on the heels of a strong final season at Indiana (72 receptions for 1,096 yards and nine touchdowns). Latimer was limited during organized team activities and minicamp as he recovered from surgery on the foot, but he is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season.

Latimer is currently behind Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker and Emmanuel Sanders in the wide receiver pecking order for the Broncos, so it will likely take an injury for him to have an immediate significant role as a rookie. But Welker is entering the final year of his contract, and Sanders has to prove he can be a consistent part of a prolific offense, so it would not surprise me if Latimer starts to see more playing time late this season with an eye toward him taking a bigger role from the start in 2015.
