Diamondbacks Injury Update: Brad Ziegler good to go

By on 7/27/2014 06:30:00 AM

The Arizona Diamondbacks entered Saturday night's game against the Philadelphia Phillies with a 44-59 record, last in the National League West. At 26th in the Major Leagues in team ERA, the Diamonbacks have not had a lot of positives out of the pitching staff this season. One bright spot has been Brad Ziegler, who has been out since Wednesday after being hit by a line drive in Tuesday's game. The good news is that Ziegler was ready to go on Saturday.

I reported on July 24 that Ziegler was  very sore and was going to continue to receive treatment after being hit by a line drive in the ribs on Tuesday. He was considered day-to-day.

Steve Gilbert, who covers the Diamondbacks for, tweeted the following update on Ziegler.
Ziegler, in his seventh Major League season, is 4-1 with a 2.84 ERA in 52 games.  The veteran, who has pitched for the A's and the Diamondbacks, has been one of the best relievers on baseball during his career. In 453 career games, Ziegler is 29-16 with a 2.45 ERA.
