Diamondbacks Injury Update: Chris Owings, Cody Ross

By on 7/20/2014 09:00:00 PM

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Chris Owings had injured his left shoulder and has been out since June 25. He saw a doctor on Friday, the Diamondbacks decided to shut down the rookie for three days reported by Adam Lichtenstein from

Manager Kirk Gibson did not say if Owings had reinjured his left shoulder or if he is just giving him extra time to heal. Owings has been throwing and fielding but has not hit before being shut down by the Diamondbacks.

The rookie is batting .277 with six home runs along with 21 RBI's through 72 games this season. Look for him to come off the 15-day disabled list sooner than later.

Another Diamondback has been dealing with injury. Right fielder Cody Ross left Satuday's game against the Chicago Cubs with tightness in his calf. After the game, Gibson said it was not severe and he will not be out for long. Gerardo Parra replaced Ross in right field.

Ross suffered a hip injury last season and missed about two months to end the season. He is batting .233 with two home runs and 11 RBI's through 65 games. He should be back in no time.
