Our own Evan Petzold reported on July 20 that Ross left Satuday's game against the Chicago Cubs with tightness in his calf. Manager Kirk Gibson said it was not severe and he would not miss much time.
An update on Ross, as reported by Igor Mello of CBSSports.com, is that Ross has yet to return from his calf injury. He was held out of the starting lineup against the Tigers on Monday. Ross did make a pinch hitting appearance in the ninth inning and got a single. There is no word whether or not he'll be in the lineup tonight.
Ross, in his 11th Major League season, is batting .238 with two home runs and 11 RBI this season. The well-traveled veteran has played for the Tigers, Dodgers, Reds, Marlins, Giants, Red Sox and Diamondbacks and has a career batting average of .262 with 132 home runs and 501 RBI.
