Dodgers Injury Update: Hanley Ramirez, Adrian Gonzalez

By on 7/02/2014 03:00:00 PM

Both Hanley Ramirez and Adrian Gonzalez are out of the Los Angeles Dodgers lineup tonight as they take on the Cleveland Indians at home, per MLB Lineups. Pedro Moura of the Orange County Register tweeted that manager Don Mattingly suggested the team will decide if Ramirez will be placed on the DL by tomorrow:
Ramirez is out with a tight calf, which has kept him from starting since Sunday, although he did pinch-hit on both Tuesday and Wednesday. The shortstop also missed most of last week because of an irritated AC joint in his right shoulder.

Gonzalez, meanwhile, is dealing with some kind of neck issue, according to Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times. No further information seems to be forthcoming but the veteran first baseman is definitely out of the lineup, with Clint Robinson making his first ever career start at the position.

The 29-year-old Robinson has only ever pinch-hit in both of his major league stints, with the Royals in June of 2012 and his current spell with the Dodgers, giving him the sum total of nine MLB plate appearances. He was a 25th round pick by the Royals back in 2007 and has a minor league line of .302/.380/.508, but has always been relatively old for each level of the minors he has played at and obviously hasn't convinced the Royals, Dodgers or Blue Jays (who he spent time with in 2013) that he possesses the skills required of a major leaguer.
