Dodgers Injury Update: Hanley Ramirez dealing with multiple issues

By on 7/12/2014 11:15:00 AM

The Los Angeles Dodgers lost the second of a four-game series against the San Diego Padres on Friday by the score of 6-3. The loss dropped the Dodgers to 52-43, tied with the San Francisco Giants for first in the National League West. The Dodgers were without shortstop Hanley Ramirez for the second straight game, as he continues to be plagued with nagging injuries.

Our own Raymond Bureau reported on July 11 that Ramirez left Thursday's game against the San Diego Padres with a sore right shoulder. He's had problems with the shoulder all season and received a cortisone injection following the game.

An update on Ramirez reported by Michael Lananna of, is that Ramirez was not in Friday's starting lineup and manager Don Mattingly would try to rest Ramirez as much as possible heading into the All-Star break.  Miguel Rojas started at shortstop on Friday and went 0-for-4 with a strikeout.

Ramirez has not been on the disabled list this year, but has been dealing with numerous issues, including a tight left calf and right ring finger contusion.  Mattingly is hesitant to keep Ramirez out of the lineup because he's such an offensive force when in the lineup.
