Dodgers Injury Update: Yasiel Puig will get more X-rays on hand, Hanley Ramirez expected back in the lineup

By on 7/21/2014 10:00:00 AM

During the Los Angeles Dodgers three-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals they struggled at the plate. Those issues may continue because Yasiel Puig and Hanley Ramirez were both hit in the left hand by pitches during the series. Ramirez also was hit in the left shoulder.

Puig was hit during a loss and he left the the game. As reported by Bill Plunkett from the Orange County Register, a fluoroscan showed no fracture but the Dodgers want him to undergo more X-rays when the team leaves for a series with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Head trainer Stan Cote told the Dodgers "no baseball stuff" for Puig until the second examination.

Don Mattingly had this to say,
"We’re obviously going to be cautious. But we think it’s going to be okay."
Ramirez left Sunday's game in the ninth inning after he was hit for the second time that night. A similar exam to Puig's was "negative." He is expected to be in the lineup Monday against the Pirates.

This season, All-Star Puig is batting .308 with 12 home runs and 52 RBI's in 92 games played. The 10-year veteran Ramirez is batting .273 with 11 home runs and 49 RBI's through 86 games this season.
