By on 7/27/2014 10:30:00 AM

After exiting Friday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers because  a foul tip hit him on the mask, Giants backup catcher Hector Sanchez was placed on the 7-day concusion list on Saturday, according to D.J. Short of Hardball Talk, and prospect Andrew Susac was called up from Triple-A Fresno.

Sanchez, 24, has hit .196/.237/.301 (OPS+ 54) with three homers and 28 RBI, appearing in 66 games this season. He was signed by the Giants as a free agent out of Venezuela in 2006 and made his debut July 15, 2011. He is pre-arb and under team control through 2018.

Susac, 24, was the Giants 2011 second-round draft pick and hit .268/.379/.451 with ten homers and 32 RBI in 63 games at Triple-A Fresno. Susac, who was rated the Giants' number three prospect by MLB prior to the 2014 season, grounded out in his first major-league at-bat against Clayton Kershaw on Saturday night.
