Giants Injury Update: Joe Panik exits

By on 7/22/2014 08:16:00 PM

Joe Panik of the Giants left Tuesday’s game against the Phillies due to a right sprained ankle, according to Andrew Baggarly of CSN Bay Area. He rolled it on first base when Roberto Hernandez didn’t give him any room to step on the base. Ehire Adrianza replaced Panik at second.

This season, Panik has a line of .210/.265/.242 with 4 RBI, 5 walks, 7 strikeouts, and a .507 OPS in 20 games. He has struggled as a rookie offensively and defensively. He has committed 3 errors already putting up a .968 fielding percentage.

He was in Triple-A Fresno to start the year and put up a slash of .321/.382/.447 with 5 home runs, 45 RBI, 27 walks, 33 strikeouts, and an .829 OPS in 74 games.

We will keep you updated on Panik’s injury as San Francisco just signed Dan Uggla to a minor-league deal and could see him soon if Panik goes on the DL. Panik would join Matt Cain, Brandon Belt, and Angel Pagan on the DL.
