MLB Injury Moves and Notes: July 28th

By on 7/28/2014 04:00:00 PM

Plenty of activations over the past couple of days - many have already been covered, but here are the rest:

Arizona Diamondbacks: activated C/INF Jordan Pacheco. The 28-year-old has been on the DL for the last month with shoulder tendonitis.

Los Angeles Dodgers: activated SS Erisbel Arruebarena and optioned him to Class A Rancho Cucamonga. Arruebarena had been on a rehab assignment with the Albuquerque Isotopes but J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News suggests that the move is at least somewhat related to the huge brawl that Arruebarena started on Saturday night.

Oakland Athletics: activated INF Alberto Callaspo. The veteran needed just the minimum stay on the DL to recover from a hamstring strain.

Tampa Bay Rays: activated RHP Joel Peralta. The reliever has been out since the All-Star break with a virus but successfully made a rehab appearance last night.

Day to day

Rockies duo Carlos Gonzalez and Drew Stubbs both sat out of Sunday's game after sustaining injuries on Saturday night.'s Thomas Harding reported that Gonzalez had his ankle taped heavily, while Stubbs appeared to be walking normally after turning his foot when hitting a home run.

Rehab roundup

The San Diego Padres sent Robbie Erlin on a rehab assignment to the AZL Padres, where he pitched two scoreless innings with five strikeouts on Sunday night.

Two starters, the Angels' C.J. Wilson and the Pirates' Gerrit Cole, have both been sent on rehab assignments and will make starts today. Cole is scheduled to throw 80 pitches for the Indianapolis Indians while Wilson will pitch for Double-A Arkansas.

Ryan Lavarnway and Will Middlebrooks both continued their rehab at Triple-A Pawtucket in a 3-1 loss to Scranton. Middlebrooks played the whole game, going 1-4, while Lavarnway was 2-4 before being replaced by a pinch-runner in the top of the ninth after driving home the Pawsox' only run.
