Jaguars Injury Update: Clay Harbor will miss several days with calf injury

By on 7/29/2014 05:00:00 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Clay Harbor was carted off the practice field with a strained calf, Ryan O'Hallorhan of the Florida Times-Union tweeted.

The injury will keep the 27-year-old out of practice for "more than a few days," according to O'Hallorhan.

Harbor was claimed off waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles prior to the 2013 season. Playing behind oft-injured tight end Marcedes Lewis, Harbor set a career-high with 292 receiving yards on 24 catches and two touchdowns.

Lewis and Harbor are the only tight ends on the Jaguar roster who have recorded a catch in the NFL. Head coach Gus Bradley said there was a silver lining to the injury.

“It’s just like with Cecil’s [Shorts] injury. It’s unfortunate, but on the other side, the younger guys are getting a lot of reps,’’ he said.

The Jaguars do not have a precise timetable on Harbor's return to the field. Lewis offered support for his teammate.

“What can you do?" Lewis said. "We can just pray for him and wish him the best.’’
