Jaguars Injury Update: Cecil Shorts will miss several weeks

By on 7/27/2014 11:05:00 PM

One of the most underrated receivers in football injured his hamstring this week. Regardless of the quarterback woes that have plagued Jacksonville, Cecil Shorts has found a way to be productive. Although he missed the last three games of the 2013 season, Shorts still amassed nearly 1800 yards and scored 11 touchdowns.

I'm sure Shorts' injury came as quite a scare to the Jaguars, as Justin Blackmon's indefinite suspension muddies up the receiver position for Jacksonville. But, this gives rookie wide receivers Marquise Lee and Allen Robinson an opportunity for more playing time in training camp. Shorts' injury won't sideline him for more than a few weeks, but this year is incredibly important for Shorts, as he is entering the final year of his rookie contract. Shorts' injury history is definitely worth noting. He missed 11 games in his career, due to either groin, concussion, clavicle, or hamstring issues. This injury is one to keep an eye on.
