The Detroit Lions have placed defensive end Ziggy Ansah and former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Golden Tate on their physically unable to perform list to start training camp.  Ian Rapoport tweeted the news early this afternoon.

Ansah did not participate in any spring workouts while he was recovering from shoulder surgery.  During the Lions spring workouts, Tate injured his shoulder as well.

Tate, who is projected to be opposite Calvin Johnson, was picked up by the Lions this offseason. In order for them to become a top-tier offense, Tate will need to be 100 percent for the 2014 NFL Season.

Ansah led all rookies with eight sacks in 2013, and he too is a large part of the Lions future. Neither player has been ruled out for the season opener in September, and new Head Coach Jim Caldwell will address the media this Sunday.
