Mariners Injury Update: Blake Beavan begins rehab

By on 7/15/2014 10:45:00 AM

The Seattle Mariners are about to get a whole lot healthier.  With many of their pitchers rehabbing, Blake Beavan has begun his rehab from the 60-day disabled list as well.
Pitching for the High-A High Desert Mavericks, Beavan allowed two runs on three hits after surrendering a home run to Dane Phillips.  In his outing, Beavan pitched the final two innings, throwing 31 pitches and 17 strikes.

Beavan, who originally went on the disabled list on April 17th with shoulder tendonitis, could provide a huge boost to the Mariners pitching staff.  The 25-year-old right-hander and former first round pick has contributed to the club for the past four years as both a starter and a reliever.

In his career, Beavan has gone 16-20 with a 4.61 ERA.  He is a pitcher who pounds the strike-zone and has a career 1.4 walk per nine innings ratio.

With the AL West being one of the toughest in all of baseball and the Mariners slowly slipping away, additions like Beavan can help put them right back in the race.
